As a kid, I used to spend almost every summer holiday in the countryside. The rewards of being there were numerous:- staying outdoors almost from the second I woke up 'till I got to bed - I slept outdoors in the hay stacks many times though
- walking or cycling wherever I needed to go - no bus, no cars
- fishing with my rod or with a net - once in a while, when I managed to catch several big fish, I enjoyed a nice evening treat, having a fish meal with my cousins and the relatives
- bathing in the Bistrita river
- eating well and staying healthy
My mum and dad's retirement residence - it was initially thought
to be a small cottage but we eventually built a house
