Google Glass Will Replace Your GoPro - A Glimpse into The Future (POV Video)

Google Glass
What about having a camera that you'll be always wearing and that can start recording whenever you say: Okay glass. Record video.?

I guess you won't be needing your GoPro camera if you get the Google Glass.

So what is Google Glass and what can you do with it?

Consider this: Google Glass can do almost anything a computer, a camera and a smartphone already does.

You're out and about and what to know which way to go? Simple - just speak to your glasses and you'll be shown the route to take - you've got a wearable GPS. The glasses are your display and the image will overlay onto the real world you see through the glass.

You have everything at your finger tips... Wait, no! At your eye lashes:
  • Web connection
  • Google search
  • Camera
  • GPS directions and maps
  • Social sharing of photos and videos
  • Text messages
  • Translation
All hands free with voice command on an Android system!

My guess is the POV consumer video will no longer belong to GoPro and that's a good thing.

The price? $1500 - and you can buy one only if you tell how you'd use Google Glass and convince the guys at Google you're worthy to have it. Do that on Twitter using the hashtag #ifihadglass - the deadline is 27 Feb 2013.

You can read more about it on TechCrunch or Wikipedia. And follow Google Glass on Twitter.

The future is here. Cheers!

  1. Love it but at $1500 I'll wait for the price to come down.

    1. Me too. But these guys are pushing the limits in a good way. I bet Microsoft and Apple are in awe (a least a little). :-)

    2. And Google's not in awe of Kinect?

  2. Google glass is nice, but who wants to wear that thing all the time. I'd hardly want to go surfing while wearing it. Nor would I want to try and attach glass to the outside of my car.

Time will tell, but I don't think this is going to catch on it it's current form. I could see it making it's way into vehicles as a head up voice activated display and dash cam.

    1. Yup. Google has the resources to try lots of stuff though - it may not be a replacement for gopro but it may be used in ways we cannot think of yet.
