I don't know about you, but my GoPro case got micro cracks that I had to repair with a resin glue.
So this aluminum GoPro housing promises to eliminate our worries about getting our cam smashed.
It's an underwater case, called Hero Armor, developed by Marc Ellis. He is into underwater shooting so he built this out of solid aluminum and stainless steel parts to withstand the harsh salt water environment.
Works with GoPro HD 2 as well.
Now, you don't have to do scuba diving to like this. Since the case is strong and robust, you can use it in any activity that involves shocks and jolts. At least you know that if the camera drops, it won't break. From this perspective, this housing makes the plastic case look silly, doesn't it?
It's a camera for extreme sports - plastic is not the strongest material, right? That's why I expect to see an aluminum housing made by GoPro in the near future.
With 9 mounting options on all sides (with standard bolts) and a flat lens (glass crystal optics), you get versatility and sharp underwater footage. (The original GoPro housing.fixed the blurred underwater image issue but I think it's not as strong as the Hero Armor.)
So if you want this case, go to Kickstarter and support Marc. Let's help him bring this on the market.
Be safe and shoot steady footage.

This new Hero armor case is super cool. Necessity is the mother of invention.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I'm baffled as to why didn't GoPro come with a solid, unbreakable case.
DeleteAwesome bit of kit. Can you make me one.
ReplyDeleteI'm in my 2nd housing and I've only had it for a couple of weeks.
You gotta check his Kick-starter page. I'm just promoting it.
